We love to draw, sketch, and render. This is really where we work our brains to get you the perfect StanCraft. Putting all our minds together to get a masterpiece. Without this your just buying another boat..
Once we have the design finished with the perfect rendering it’s time to create the drawings. The blueprints for our builders.
This is where the real fun starts! Whether you visit regularly to see progress or we email the photos weekly you get to watch the build step by step. A fascinating process that takes a pile of lumber and turns it into a dream.
The builders will use the blueprints to cut the frames and attach them to the keel. Every piece is mechanically attached with a #10 stainless steel screw and bonded with a 5200 adhesive.
After it has been framed we start planking the hull. There are many ways to build a boat but for the past 83 years we have used the plank on frame process, it is a tried and true process and gives the hull an incredible amount of strength.
When we are finished planking we plug all of the screw holes. We hand select the perfect plug for each hole making sure that the grains match and are facing the same direction. After each plug is carefully glued in place we sand them flush to the planks.
Once the hull is completed it will move to our top side shop. This is where we finish all of the remaining wood work from the deck planking to the seat frames and floors.
StanCrafts are just as beautiful on the inside as the outside. Here we add those elegant features like mahogany decking, shelving, and more. We spend 100’s of hours on the interior alone.
Now that all of the woodwork is done we stain and varnish the boats. We apply 16 coats of varnish and buff it to a mirror finish.
While the finishing process is taking place we are also rigging the boat. In this stage we install all of the electrical components and pull hundreds of feet of wire through the boat as well as install the engine(s), drives, and fuel system.
No boat leaves before its time. We water test every boat for a minimum of 6 hours before it leaves for its new home. Systems are dialed, props are tuned, engines are perfect. Just turn the key and have a blast!
Our clients are our family and we hope your new StanCraft will become one of yours. No matter where the boat goes we will always be available for any future needs.
